Love Letter

Meet The Writer: Brigid Sax

"Love Letter" is a piece written to a Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish type beat. The piece was based off of a time in my life where I was constantly questioning my self worth. I wanted to create a piece that spoke on the “what if" questions often thought over after a relationship ends or a potential one is lost. I used this sad piano type beat to create the feelings of sorrow and loss. The lyrics are meant to move through the motions of questioning yourself and realizing that things may not have ever worked out the way you planned them and that maybe that is okay.  I decided to use the pop genre for this song because I wanted to use the traditional verse-chorus song structure and talk about love which is a common theme in pop songs. The song is slow in rhythm, in the hopes that those listening can reflect on their own experiences.

LYRICS

Angels Like You - Type Beat
00:00 / 03:44

Is it something I said?

Made you want to turn away

Did I make you upset?

I just want to make sure you’re okay

I wish I knew where we went wrong

My heart still stops when I hear our song

I know I’m easy to erase

But before you walk away

Oh, I could have been your second chance

I could have been your one romance

But you looked right through me

Oh, I could have been your final dance

You could’ve felt my love in every glance

But you looked right through me

Does she make you feel better?

Because clearly she was the better choice

Would you write you this love letter?

You’d only hear it in my voice

I wish I knew where we went wrong

My heart still stops when I hear our song

I know I’m easy to erase

But before you walk away

Oh, I could have been your second chance

I could have been your one romance

But you looked right through me

Oh, I could have been your final dance

You could’ve felt my love in every glance

But you looked right through me

Did you ever want that from me?

Did you ever want that from me?
