I wrote the song about Coronavirus and the different ways it has changed our life. For example, how we have to be more careful to keep ourselves and the world safe. The song is more of a fun and playful song to make the whole situation feel lighter at a time that's so serious. This song also allows people to become more aware of the dangers of Covid-19 and how we can stay clean. Making light of the situation and staying home and doing as we are told is all we can do during this time.

BIG19 Is a song co-written by Sophie Averza and me. We collaborated through multiple Facetime writing sessions where we would come up with different lyrics and try to improve what we have. This song is a hip-hop parody inspired by the global pandemic going in an attempt to lighten people’s spirits. At the beginning of this workshop, my partner and I were focused on our own projects. I was sold on the idea of making a hip hop or rap song, but the lyrics that I was coming up with just did not fit the song. It was hard to make a song personal and heartwarming with such an incredible beat and fast tempo. This was when I expressed my trouble to Sophie in an attempt to get some help writing, instead, she told me she was also struggling while writing her song. At this moment in time, we decided to each scrap what we had and try to work together. The Covid-19 parody theme idea came from a group discussion in one of our workshops. While neither of us knew this would be our song idea at the time, the concept really stuck with us. This is why for our first Facetime session we discussed creating a full hip hop parody.
